BOOTS AND KIMO'S

If you ever visit the island State of Hawaii, Boots and Kimo's is a must! Located out in the beautiful Windward side of Oahu. The breathtaking mountainous scenery will be well accompanied in the early morning with a local kine breakfast that trumps any other breakfast platter I have had so far. One thing that you will notice about the island of Hawaii is it's diverse culture and our absolute LOVE for good food.

Anything delicious, delectable, luscious, flavorous, flavoursome, flavorful, savory, toothsome, appetizing, sapid, mouth watering, palatable, yummy, scrumptious is simply put as being "ONO" in Hawaiian. Good food does not go unnoticed on the islands. Word of mouth is how I found out about Boots and Kimo's. Located out in Kailua, the restaurant has a laid back island atmosphere / sports eatery. There are signed jersey's and helmets on display throughout the small restaurant. The first thing you will notice when taking a turn to park is that there will be a line wrapping around the corner of the store with people waiting to be seated to eat.

Here are some important pointers to consider. Because of the high traffic volume going into Boots and Kimo's, make sure that everyone in your party is present before you ask to be seated. They will request that everyone is present or they won't seat you. That is common courtesy for all, and to ensure that their business flows smoothly throughout the day within the hours that they are open. The staff is well prepared and are very friendly always greeting with a smile on their faces. If Boots and Kimo's become a regular breakfast spot for you they will get to know you by your first name or by your order. Island music is the choice of selection that will most likely be playing on their speakers, not tourist music, but the reggae jams, it really sets the atmosphere. If you have a big party going with you to Boots and Kimo's, I suggest you arrive early, or you will have to wait in the gruesome line that can back all the way out and around the building.

The drinks are the usual breakfast juices, hot drinks, and soft drinks. I consider myself to be a home brew coffee pro. I love coffee, good, fresh, simple, brewed coffee. The first thing I usually order is the house coffee. Once served, I smell and taste it to make sure the coffee is fresh out of the pot and not a brew that's been sitting on the heater for more than an hour. Coffee sets the mood for the day for me so it is important that a restaurant serves really good coffee. If their food is crap, at least have good coffee. Trust, its an acquired skill. Boots and Kimo's coffee was a thumbs up for me. Fresh and ecstatic in all its simplicity!

Here is the menu:
You can find it sealed outside of the restaurant on a stand.  This will assist you in figuring out what you are going to order before you get in. They will serve you with a menu inside, but it helps to know what you want before you are seated so they can get your order moving and your food served to you in no time!

I did my best in getting a picture of the menu.

Boots and Kimo's is well known for their breakfast menu and their savory omelets. I had tried their seafood special omelet, it was served hot with melting cheese and my choice of hash browns. It was  like taking a dip in the deep blue sea and sky rocketing back onto the shore line just to watch the sun rise in the horizon. Do not leave until you order Boots and Kimo's "MACADAMIA NUT SAUCE" served on a stack of pancakes of your choice or french toast. You absolutely cannot leave without trying this, you will miss the whole point of going out to Boots and Kimo's! It is a creamy sauce of macadamia with a sweet sensational punchline that will send your taste buds reeling into the Ko'olau Mountains!

So a little bit about Boots and Kimo's, there is ample parking either at the back of the restaurant or across the street. The eatery sits up to 55 to 60 people maximum. There is ample waiting space in the front for all those who will be waiting to be seated. Boots and Kimo's is probably the first busy restaurant that uses a Motorola handset to place your orders. They are tech savvy if you know what I mean, that can explain why the orders don't get mixed up and how they are able to whisk people in and out in a matter of minutes. As you can see by the menu the prices are not outrageously expensive. The serving portions are generous.

They are open daily.
Monday through Friday they are open at 7:30am to 2:00pm
Saturday and Sunday they are open at 7:00am to 2:30pm
The settlement is kid friendly. You can make it work if you take a group of 8 or more, I went with a group of 10. It was kind of squeezing it but it worked. Do I recommend it for big groups, definitely not. Small groups yes. Or a family breakfast, or even possibly time to spend with your significant other is an absolutely yes. They don't take any credit cards, charge cards, or debit cards, strictly cash only. So be sure you have enough in your wallet. You just might end up ordering to go as well. It is a laid back casual setting, rubber slippahs are ok. They have tv's on opposite sides of the restaurant.

You can check in on your facebook from Boots and Kimo's. They don't have Wi Fi and no they don't serve alcohol. They do have take out, the number is at the top of this blog. Last but not least it is wheelchair accessible. And there is a restroom within.

With that go and check it out and come back and share your experience. I was too busy eating that I didn't take too many pictures. I was in love with the pancakes and the macadamia nut sauce. Everything else I went for went right out the door because I was in my own mini heaven. Thank you for stopping by and come back for more on the "spots" in Hawaii!
